Here are some thoughts on today’s election.
As of the early morning hours of the day after, it was not clear who won the Presidential Election, Donald Trump or Joe Biden. What was clear was that the Conservative Movement in America lost. This is even though the Republicans can still control the Senate by a slim 2 vote margin depending on two run-off elections in Georgia in a few weeks.
While the Republicans gained 3 seats in the House of Representatives, lost a seat in the Senate (possibly 3 depending on Georgia run-offs) and gained 1 Governor (flipping Montana), Conservatives lost ground in the Republican Party to Trump’s Alt-Right.
“Alt-Right” is short for “Alternative-Right” as in not Conservative but the alternative to it. The more the Alt-Right makes gains in the Republican Party the less Republicans are left for Conservatives to win over. Another alternative to the Right is the Left. Not so good for Conservatives.
On the left is the growth of Democratic Socialism. So far, the Democratic Socialists are not presenting themselves as an alternative to the Left; they are just dragging Democrats further to the left.
All in all, not a good election for America.
