The important events in history told by the important historians, the great writers, and even the eye-witnesses. This website History Moments is seeking sponsorship. But this isn’t about just sponsoring a website; it is about building a legacy. It is also about making that legacy accessible to the busy, modern person. The posts are five minutes long. The podcasts are ten.
To make history fun, accessible, and reliable.
Fun: through good storytelling, not games, gadgets, or gimmicks.
Accessible: through good site navigation, page load times, and search capability
Reliable: through fact-checking and references to the latest authoritative content.
The first priority of this project is the written content. The second priority of this project is the multi-media content. The total picture:
- Content mined from the greats of the past
- Original written content
- Education courses both online and in-person
- Podcasts
- Videos
The website now contains 3 million words. Coverage:
- From the beginning of time to the present
- Of every field of human endeavor
- From big picture analysis to individual human moments — and stories between those extremes
All in one place. We can do the job. The best claim on what can be done is based on what has been done.
But it can be so much more. For all of its size, the website is still just a prototype. The website needs financial sponsorships to improve on:
- Fact checking
- Site design for better load times, smoother looks, easier access to content
- Permissions to use copyrighted material
- Paid marketing
- Equipment including that for video production
- Foundational legal work
- Software
- Office costs
- Travel costs
(and first in importance!) labor costs for one full-time staffer. Myself. More is better but this project is not professional if it is only part-time. For me, this is not just a job; it is a calling. The work done so far, without financing shows that. Proposed labor costs per one FTE is $55,000 per year.
Other costs can be scaled.
