New Year Day, 2018

Happy New Year from History Moments!

New Year

Annual Report

by Jack Le Moine, the Publisher

The backbone of this site is stories of the great events of history as told by great historians. Some are by witnesses. Some by great writers of literature. These are drawn from a the multi-volume Book “Great Events by Famous Historians” selected and edited by Rossiter Johnson; assisted by Charles F. Horne and John Rudd.

We broke the selections down into 5 minute installments for easy reading. Videos, current books, and internet articles (chiefly from Wikipedia) add value to each selection. Below we chose one selection for each month to highlight from the many that we published last year.

OUR TOP SELECTIONS

January: Japan Repels the Mongols
February: Romans Establish Republic
March: Luther Begins the Reformation in Germany
April: Normans Conquer England
May: Christianity Introduced into Japan
June: The Cuban Campaign
July: Columbus Discovers America
August: The Gunpowder Plot
September: Visigoths Sack Rome
October: The Code of Hammurabi
November: Cleopatra, Caesar and Antony
December: The Great Puritan Migration to New England

OUR FUTURE PLANS

Last Year’s Accomplishments
Over 2,200 posts. Over 2 million words. Some of the most important events in history told by some of the greatest historians who ever wrote. Sometimes we use eye-witnesses or participants in the events.
There would be even more but for:
Last year we taught a class on Big History.

Next Year’s Plans
Soon we will be breaking new ground for this site with a series on future history.

We will also teach another class. The Seven Biggest Decades in History: 1875-1945.
