From the latest happenings in things historical. This article Washington University Drops U.S. History Requirement — for History Majors! was published 2 days ago in PJ Media . The article’s author is Tyler O’Neil .

Across America, college history departments are trying to make their courses more popular by downgrading core courses such as U.S. History, and European History courses in favor of trendier courses that are also easier to pass. The article does not mention courses on histories of countries in South America, Africa, or Asia but they are equally hard so logically they would be next to downgrade.

The article contains links to other articles on related topics. I like the idea of substituting the creation of history websites for thesis. Doing a website is harder than it looks. I hope the requirement that a website has to achieve certain traffic targets are included in the substitution. Then we would see them getting a real challenge.
