It was graduation day at West Point Military Academy in 1837. While the commanding general of the army was giving his oration in his typical orotund fashion, a young second lieutenant muttered to an old woman, “What a pompous and unbearable old windbag that slob is.”

The woman turned to him and demanded, “Young man, do you know who who I am?”

“No, ma’am.”

“I am that pompous windbag’s wife!”

“Do you know who I am?”

“Certainly not!”

“Good.” The lieutenant disappeared into the crowd.

This is a fictional joke about General Scott, “Old Fuss and Feathers”.
