Current Events from a Historical Viewpoint

He has enough delegates in hand to win the Republican nomination.
He says a lot of good things but he has a tendency to put his foot in it. Imagine it is a week before the election and Trump is up 7 points. Based on his past history, be sure that he will say something bad to blow his lead. And that is why he will loose the election.
Great Britain voted to leave the European Union yesterday.
Britain will remain a great power. Great powerdom is a function of their territory, their population, and their economic base. Despite all of the talk of sending Britain to the back of the line people will want to trade with it based on considerations of self-interest. It was in America’s and the world’s interest to trade with Great Britain before the EU and it will still be in the future.
Obama Administration declares people now have fundamental right to declare whatever gender they want and use whatever bathroom they want.
At the first of the year men were men and women were women. Did anyone think that men going into women’s bathrooms would even be an issue at all, let alone a fundamental right? T is only one letter of the LGBTQ alphabet. More letters are being added all of the time. Next up, what about the B? Bi-sexuals. Will they be able to self-identify for bathroom use, too?
An Islamic Radical stormed a gay bar and shot 50 something people.
This is being called the worst such massacre in US history, though the natives at Wounded Knee might argue with that. Then there’s those massacres in African American history but I’ve made my point. Stop with the political hoop-la about this already!
A massacre should not tarnish the group that the murderer belongs to, nor should it validate that the group that the victims belong to. Both are human beings. Deal with it.
As for gun control. Taking advantage of such events to further political agendas is just icky. The gun control measures being sit-ined over in Congress would not have stopped this massacre. The murderer had already passed FBI background checks – twice!
The nation’s news media increase negative coverage of Donald Trump.
But isn’t this the time of the election cycle that they always do that to the Republican candidate, whoever he is? Hasn’t this been going on every election since before we were born? This reminds me of the story of the little boy who cried wolf and what happened when a wolf really did appear? Sad.
And don’t forget that you heard it here first. Donald Trump will loose election.
